For years, Suze Patel channelled her creativity into the businesses she ran with her husband: one selling personalised digital gifts, and another designing and manufacturing an innovative baby crib. The work was rewarding, but something was missing.
“I’ve always loved interior design,” she says. “I always notice it when I enter a building, I make my husband drive down nice streets so I can look at all the houses, and I’ve watched every home show there is. But I never had the guts to do anything about it.”
Eventually, Suze reached a turning point. “I’d been feeling like I wanted to do something I was really passionate about,” she explains. “It felt like that part of me was always missing. I did your five-day challenge, and the rest, as they say, is history. After doing the challenge, I talked to my husband about the diploma and the Hub, and I actually got emotional about it. That’s when we both knew I just had to go for it.”
Like many students, Suze had her share of doubts. “Many times I wondered whether I was creative enough or good enough,” she admits. “My husband has two cousins who studied interior design, and I always thought I could never be as qualified as them. But neither of them pursued it as a career, and I realised I couldn’t let that stop me. I’ve always been creative and I needed an outlet for it.”
Her confidence grew as soon as she joined The Interior Designers Hub. “I’m quite a shy person by nature, so I’ve had to work on putting myself out there,” she says. “But your style of teaching really appealed to me. I loved learning in bite-size chunks, and the support you offer goes beyond just completing the diploma. I really liked that my tutor not only had industry knowledge but also a teaching background. That combination made such a difference.”
The Hub’s support went beyond the diploma; it gave me everything I needed to start my new career.

Suze thrived during her time on the Level 3 Diploma in Professional Interior Design. “My tutor always gave such positive and useful feedback, which really gave me confidence,” she says. “The content was easy to follow, and the Facebook group was a great place to ask questions. I loved that it was so practical too — working with finishes and samples made it feel real.”
By the end of the course, Suze had not only built her knowledge and skills but also created a professional portfolio ready to showcase her new business. “Having that portfolio has given me such a boost as I start setting things up,” she says. “I also made really comprehensive notes throughout the diploma, so I’ll have an amazing resource to look back on as I navigate my own business.”
The decision to change career has been genuinely transformative. “It’s definitely given me the confidence to think I might just be able to pull this off,” she smiles. “This diploma has helped me find the courage to turn something I’ve loved for so long into a real career.”
When asked what she would say to someone hesitating about taking the same leap, Suze doesn’t hesitate. “Definitely do it!” she says. “Something that really pushed me to go for it was the idea that my children could see me having a career I’m truly passionate about. This diploma was incredibly supportive, informative and manageable, and it helped me build my confidence enough to take the plunge into interior design. I’ll forever be grateful for that opportunity.”
Suze’s story is a wonderful reminder that it’s never too late to follow your passion. The Level 3 Diploma in Professional Interior Design at The Interior Designers Hub gave her the structure, support and belief she needed to transform a lifelong interest into an exciting new chapter — one filled with creativity, confidence and purpose.
